The Challenges of Scaling in Jersey
Despite our early success, scaling Ryde has not been easy - and without the right backing, Jersey could miss a huge opportunity to transform its transport landscape.
⚠️ Limited access to finance - Like most startups, our first year has been financially challenging. However, local lenders won’t fully support us due to standard credit risk appetites - despite clear long-term potential.
⚠️ Infrastructure is holding us back - Public charging was a great start, but as we grow, it is increasingly unsuitable for our business. We need a dedicated depot with overnight EV charging to operate efficiently - charging throughout shifts is unsustainable. Finding a suitable space remains a major challenge.
